And just 20 minutes away from the hotel at Ardoch Roman Camp at Auchterarder see the remains of this Roman military station - the furthest outpost of the empire. Still on history, Scone Palace is just outside Perth and here you can see where Robert the Bruce was crowned King of Scots. There too in the Pinetum are trees planted with seeds brought back from America by David Douglas. In the Palace 18th century French furniture rivalling any also on show in France.
